And then I laughed.
Laughed at the thought of him.
Laughed at my stupidity, my naivete; at my mistake.
I laughed the shattered dreams I once tried to nurse back to health.
I laughed at the fact that I had dared to hope.
I laughed as tears began to spring from my eyes, but I laughed anyway.
I laughed at the face of society as it continues to mock me.
I laughed like a madman all the way home.
